Super-mum lands her perfect home

Debbie, Ruby-Mae and Matthew are enjoying their new three-storey lifestyle When it comes to stressful moments, moving home is something that often gets put at the top of the list, but one mother in Thatcham has upset the apple-cart, by completing her move whilst still finding time to juggle four part-time jobs.

Debbie Studart, 37, completed her switch to a brand new home at Redrow’s Kennet Heath development in Thatcham, Berkshire while continuing to work her part-time jobs as a chef, cleaner, estate agent negotiator and checkout assistant at Tescos.

Debbie says: “It’s been real hard work making the move whilst working and we’re still settling in, but myself, my husband Matthew and our two-year old-daughter Ruby-Mae are all really pleased with our new home.

“As soon as we saw this house we knew it was exactly what we wanted, at a price that was within our range and in a great area, plus Redrow allowed us to part exchange our old home.”

The Studarts opted to move into a four-bedroom, three-storey Ribble home, and Debbie concedes that she doesn’t know if she would like to ‘up sticks’ and move again.

She says: “This is the third time we have moved now and I’m not sure if we will do it again, one thing’s for sure though, if we do it won’t be for a very long time. Luckily this home is the perfect place for us to stay put.

“Originally I wasn’t convinced by the idea of a three-storey home because some of the townhouses I’ve seen were a lot taller than they were wide, however this Ribble has the appearance of a more traditional two-storey home with the advantage of a ready-made loft conversion; and now that I have three floors I wouldn’t swap back.”

Paul Moran, sales director for Redrow Homes (Southern), says: “It’s remarkable how hard this family has been working, especially when you consider the added pressures having a young child and moving home can bring. Hopefully they’ll enjoy the fact that in a brand new home there’s little or no maintenance to worry about and none of the renovation and re-decorating that can come with a second-hand property, so they can put their feet up a little now and begin to have a more relaxing time.”

With only the three Studarts and four bedrooms, Debbie explains the logic behind buying such a large house, hinting that the hard working trio may one day become a quartet.

She says: “One reason for choosing a three-storey is because we are planning on having another child soon, so the extra floor will be really useful, but at the moment it’s actually still full of boxes that we haven’t had time to unpack!

“Also my parents come to visit sometimes and Matthew and I both thought it would be nice to have them stay over from time to time, so we haven’t ruled out the idea of keeping it as a guest room.”

“Although Matthew and I are working hard for the future, I’ve made sure all of my jobs are in the evening because then it gives me time to spend with Ruby-Mae in the day and I can see Matthew when he comes home from work, and I think it’s important to do that.

“All in all I’m really happy that we’ve made this move, and I think Kennet Heath is going to be a perfect place for us to bring up our family.”

Kennet Heath consists of a variety of different properties to suit the requirements of many different home buyers.

Currently available are two-bedroom Tunstall apartments priced from £194,950, and a variety of four-bedroom homes, ranging from a detached Ribble similar to the Studdarts’ new home, from £294,950, up to a Walkham, which is priced from £334,950.

Situated in Thatcham, one of England’s oldest towns, Kennet Heath has great transport routes to Newbury, Basingstoke and Reading with the M4 close-by for links to London, the Midlands, Wales, the South Coast and the South-West. Thatcham also boasts great rail links as it lies on the main line to London.
