435 new homes in Reading for October
Barratt Homes has announced it will release for sale the first phase of properties at The West Village, its development of 435 new homes in the heart of Reading, on 13th October. The first properties available will be a collection of two, three and four-bedroom houses and ‘early-birds’ hoping to buy off-plan should register their interest now to ensure the best chance of achieving their preferred plots. The West Village is being built in Oxford Road, on the site of the former Battle Hospital, which closed in 2005. The striking development represents the completion of the regeneration of the town centre and will transform the area into a vibrant new living quarter with bars, restaurants, offices, shops and workshops.
Gary Ennis, Barratt’s regional managing director, says: “The West Village will be an impressive development with private and affordable homes that will go a long way to addressing the growing demand for new homes in Reading, a town that continues to have a strong property market.”
The homes are being built to a high specification and some, both private and affordable, will be fitted with solar panels for energy conservation. The scheme will have beautifully landscaped grounds, with plenty of green spaces, including a traditional village green.
The West Village will be a superb place to live with everything on the doorstep: fantastic shopping at the Oracle, great bars, pubs and restaurants, exciting nightlife and even Premier League football at the Madjeski stadium. For day-to-day shopping, a Tesco Superstore is being built adjacent to the development. Reading is close to some of the most beautiful rural areas of the county and close to Ascot, Henley, Wentworth and Windsor.
For commuters, Reading West station, with its short link to the Reading mainline, is just a short walk away and provides a very fast train service into London Paddington in 20 minutes. The M4 motorway at Junction 11 is within a short drive.
