Barratt launches dream start at West Village, Reading Barratt Thames Valley has launched a special deal for first-time-buyers at The West Village, its superb development of 435 new homes in the heart of Reading, on the former Battle Hospital site. The first properties will be ready this month, so buyers who move fast could find themselves in their dream home for Christmas or the New Year.

The West Village offers a fantastic mix of contemporary house types with stylish designs and fashionable high specification interiors. The scheme is already attracting young first time buyers hoping to secure their first property at what will be a vibrant ‘happening’ place to live; Barratt’s Dream Start incentive will help them achieve their goal.

Dream Start, available on a limited number of properties up to value of £250,000, allows them to move into a brand new Barratt home for only 75 per cent of the purchase price, while still owning a full 100 per cent of the property. There is no deposit to pay and Barratt will cover the stamp duty costs whilst also paying up to £1000 legal fees. No interest or rent is payable on the 25 per cent deferred, which is paid back as 25 per cent of the property’s open market value at any time up to the resale of the property or within ten years, whichever is sooner.

Incentives for everyone include a three per cent fixed interest rate mortgage for two years and the ‘Six of the Best’ promotion, where £1000 legal fees and the deposit are paid by Barratt, and carpets, curtains, light fittings and fridge/freezer are included in the price.

Michael O’Leary, managing director of Barratt Thames Valley, says: “The West Village is an exciting development that will provide a new community in this prime location. We have been delighted with the interest in these properties since we launched in October and are looking forward to opening four fabulous showhomes in February.”

The West Village, being built in Oxford Road and part of the major regeneration of the town centre, will transform the area into a vibrant new living quarter with bars, restaurants, offices, shops and workshops. Currently available is a very stylish collection of two, three and four-bedroom houses; one and two bedroom apartments will be released in later phases. The scheme will have beautifully landscaped grounds, which will include a traditional village green.

The scheme’s location is ideal, with everything on the doorstep: fantastic shopping at the Oracle, great bars, pubs and restaurants, exciting nightlife and even Premier League football at the Madjeski stadium. For day-to-day shopping, a Tesco Superstore is being built adjacent to the development; what could be more convenient? Reading is close to some of the most beautiful rural areas of the county and close to Ascot, Henley, Wentworth and Windsor.

For commuters, Reading West station, with its short link to the Reading mainline, is just a short walk away and provides a very fast train service into London Paddington in 20 minutes. The M4 motorway at Junction 11 is within a short drive.

Homes ready to move in to for Christmas include a Houston three bedroom house priced £269,950 and a Columbus townhouse with four double bedrooms priced £352,950. Prices for other properties start from £240,950 for a two bedroom house; apartments will be released in later phases. The sales office is open seven days a week, 10am to 5pm.
