Barratt launches new incentives in Reading

Barratt has been offering the scheme nationally for more than 30 years and thousands of buyers have already taken advantage of it. It is now available with an added incentive.
Barratt will buy your current home at full market value so that you are free to buy one of its brand new homes. You will be able to move quickly without the hassle of a chain. You can stay in your old property right up until your new one is ready and as an additional incentive, if you complete by 20th June 2008, Barratt will pay your mortgage for you until January 2009.
There's no hassle, no estate agent fees or last minute haggling over price.
Michael O'Leary, managing director of Barratt Thames Valley, says: "We know that moving house can have its difficulties, such as finding a buyer and chains breaking. Barratt's part-exchange offer removes all this uncertainty. Just like trading in your old car when you buy a new model, we effectively buy your old home for cash, enabling you to relax without the worry and cost of selling a property."
There's also a new scheme to help first time buyers. Barratt's ‘Head Start' initiative allows first time buyers to move into a brand new apartment for only 85 per cent of the purchase price, while still owning a full 100 per cent of the property. There is no deposit to pay and Barratt will pay the Stamp Duty; the buyer just pays the legal fees. No interest or rent is payable on the 15 per cent deferred, which is paid back as 15 per cent of the property's open market value at any time up to the resale of the property or within ten years, whichever is sooner.
Both the part-exchange offer and ‘Head Start' incentives are available at The West Village and Shinfield Park developments in Reading.
The West Village, located off Portman Road and conveniently adjacent to the new Tesco supermarket, is part of the major regeneration of the town centre which will transform the area into a vibrant new living quarter with bars, restaurants, offices and workshops. The 435-home development includes a contemporary mix of one and two bedroom apartments and two, three and four bedroom houses. A showhomes launch event will be held later in May.
Prices from £237,950 for a two bedroom house, from £250,000 for a three bedroom house, and from £352,950 for a four bedroom house.
Shinfield Park is located around four miles from Reading town centre and is set in 38 acres of parkland, making it a wonderfully rural place to live. The scheme offers a choice of apartments and houses. There is a good choice of schools and colleges in the area, including the private Crosfields School near the development. A showhome launch event will be held on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th May, 10am to 5pm, with fun for all the family.
Prices from £239,950 for a two bedroom apartment, from £369,950 for a three bedroom townhouse, and from £564,950 for a six bedroom detached house.
Reading is a great location, with fantastic shopping at the Oracle, great bars, pubs and restaurants, exciting nightlife and even Premier League football at the Madjeski stadium. The town is also close to some of the most beautiful rural areas of the country and close to Ascot, Henley, Wentworth and Windsor. Reading's mainline train station provides a very fast train service into London Paddington (around 20 minutes). The M4 motorway at Junction 11 is within a short drive.
