Barratt donates £2000 to Compton school

Barratt is building 23 private three and four-bedroom houses and 10 affordable homes at its development, Lowbury Gardens. All the properties will meet level three of the Government's Code for Sustainable Homes; a benchmark for the design of new homes to ensure they include eco-friendly elements.
Mrs Val Houldey, head teacher at The Downs School, says: "We have 1000 children at the school, most of whom use the dining hall at lunch time but this was very cramped. Thanks to the kind donations from The Friends of The Downs School, local businesses and Barratt Homes, we now have a wonderful extension that is already proving useful, not just at lunchtime, but also for school social functions."
Compton is located off the A34, around nine miles north of the M4 (J 13), with Oxford to the north and Newbury to the south. Barratt's new homes will be ideal for families wishing to live near good schools. The village has a primary school, and for older children, The Downs School, which has received three outstanding inspections in a row and can claim Arsenal/England footballer Theo Walcott amongst its alumnae.
Prices at Lowbury Gardens start from £283,000 for a two bedroom house, from £333,000 for a three bedroom house and from £428,000 for a four bedroom house. The first homes are expected to be released for sale in January 2009.
