Moving made easy for retirees

“Our dog, Megan, is over 13 years’ old now and we were really pleased when David Wilson said she could move with us,” said Joan. “We had to get a special license, but she is settling in well and most of the other residents love her.”
Joan and John previously lived in a bungalow in Crowthorne but there were no shops close by and, when Joan began to suffer with arthritis, the couple knew they would have to move.
“My husband saw an advert for The Mews and the development really appealed,” Joan continued. “We were able to take advantage of David Wilson’s Home Exchange scheme, we were offered full market value for our property and with David Wilson as the buyer, we had no worry which was a great relief.
“We’ve bought a lovely little cottage, with a lounge, downstairs cloakroom, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The kitchen is fully integrated, with a fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, oven and microwave. All of the cottages have an individual design and there’s a parking space outside - we’re really pleased with our purchase.
“There are lots of amenities at The Mews, including two communal lounges and a library, and the other residents are so friendly,” Joan continued. “We can walk to town in five minutes and there’s a doctors’ surgery close by. It’s made such a difference moving here and three of our children live locally, so it’s the perfect new home for us.”
The Mews, Chestnut Grange is a gated development of two-bedroom cottages with just four homes remaining. In addition to the communal lounges, on site facilities include a guest suite, a house manager, residents lounge and a 24-hour care line service.
Set in Harding Place off Glebelands Road, the select, tranquil development of just 19 cottages is a short walk from the picturesque town centre of Wokingham. Local amenities include shops like Waitrose on the doorstep and Marks & Spencer, a post office and an outdoor market. The town enjoys easy access to the M4 and the M3 motorways.
