Barratt showhome sets new standards in Bristol

Hortham Village is set to be one of the most eco-friendly developments in the country with 140 homes being built on the site of the former Hortham Hospital.
And 10 years after plans were unveiled for the development, it is now open and buyers can reserve their chosen plot at Hortham.
The first showhome to wow visitors has been the five bedroom Marlowe – one of the most eco-friendly homes designed by Barratt – and the showpiece of the sales complex now taking shape at Hortham.
The official launch weekend proved a huge success with potential buyers and sales director Louise Ware said it was the perfect opportunity for people to see how things are taking shape at the development.
“There has been so much pent up demand for a new home at Hortham Village and we are delighted to have been able to open our first showhome,’’ said Louise. “The feedback has been tremendous for our designs – and the emphasis on creating as many environmentally friendly features as possible.’’
Eco-friendly features will include solar panels, low energy light bulbs and waste separation units – all helping to create a more sustainable ‘green’ community.
As work progresses on the development two, three and four bedroom homes will be released including the three bedroom Maidstone with en-suite to the master bedroom and generous living space. Designs will also include the four bedroom Woodcote with a spacious living/dining area and French doors to the garden.
Many of the houses will be detached, with good size gardens, double garages and driveways. The larger designs include the four-bedroom Thornton house – which offers a study with French doors, separate dining room and downstairs cloakroom – and the four-bedroom Radleigh, which features a lounge with bay window and kitchen with utility room.
