Helga raises eyebrows at The Zone

The focus on healthy lifestyles and environmentally-friendly living at The Zone has opened the door for Helga, the name given to a new Vauxhall Corsa which is being made available for residents who have occasional need to venture out of the city centre on four wheels but do not want the hefty expense, responsibility or carbon imprint that car ownership brings.
Helga is one of two cars that will occupy specially designated parking spaces at The Zone as part of a scheme operated by the City Car Club. For an hourly, daily or weekly fee, residents can pick up the car from the parking space then return it to the same spot when the journey is finished.
“Most of the enquiries we have had at The Zone are from people who want to make the changes that come with city centre living so the car club option is very attractive” said Barratt sales director Louise Ware.
“Already we have one non-driver among our buyers and there are a number of couples who are looking to discard a car so it is very satisfying to see our concepts working well.”
The cars, which will bear the Barratt Homes livery, are brand new five door hatchbacks and all have names. Helga is a Corsa but it could very well be a Renault Clio, or a Nissan Micra or Ford Fiesta. In its other locations, the City Car Club also has a fleet of larger family hatchback (5-door) cars including Vauxhall Astras and Kia Cee'ds on offer.
When complete, the Zone, located in the regenerated Temple Quarter area of Bristol city, will have 407 units - a mix of citi-pads, apartments and townhouses and its location close to shopping, transport and leisure facilities is proving perfect for first time buyers, young professionals and investors. Prices range from £127,500 to £215,000.
