Persimmon directors visit eco housing scheme

The visit to 200 acre Port Marine focussed on key construction issues for the UK’s largest house builder including the use of its Space4 off-site timber framed construction techniques, the latest 360 degree roto forklift technology, the creation of public realms and the importance of maximising customer understanding of new homes via the creation of advanced show homes and new home demonstrations.
Attended by the majority of construction directors from across the company’s 25 operating businesses, plus group chief executive, Mike Farley, the seminar visit was hosted by Adrian Morgan, regional chairman for Persimmon Homes Western.
“The Directors Seminar provided a fantastic opportunity for our construction directors to share best practice as well as seeing one of our most groundbreaking developments first hand,” commented Adrian.
“Port Marine is a fantastic example of how a carefully planned regeneration can create a thriving new community for the 21st century and one which tackles the environmental and ecological issues which are of increased importance to both developers and home owners. The event was a huge success and I’m confident that all who attended took away something of value to their regional companies.”
Over the past seven years some 1,800 new properties have been created at Port Marine alongside new community facilities including shops, leisure facilities and a new primary school plus the opening of the second biggest yacht lock in Europe. Persimmon Homes’ properties at Port Marine range from one bedroom apartment to six bedroom executive homes designed to appeal to purchasers on all levels of the property ladder and ensure the longevity of a thriving new cosmopolitan community.
