USA-style ‘Open Day’ comes to Bristol property market

USA-style ‘Open Day’ comes to Bristol property market A selection of Bristol’s prime city centre apartments are throwing their doors open to potential purchasers this weekend (Saturday September 6) in a USA-style open day organised by property advisor Savills.

The event will give people interested in buying a new apartment the chance to drop in and view any number of properties throughout the day rather than having to arrange a fixed appointment.

The six locations are Eminence in St Thomas Street, Baldwin Lofts in Baldwin Street, 10 Unity Street, Grove House on Cornwallis Grove, Clifton, The Refinery in Old Market and Marsh House in Marsh Street.

This is the first time that an ‘open house’ event featuring this number of properties on the same day has been organised in the city and is a popular way of selling houses in the USA and Australia.

George Cardale, head of new homes at Savills in Bristol, said: “We are always looking for inventive ways of marketing properties in order to make the process as convenient as possible for purchasers.

“This type of event gives people the flexibility to drop in at a time that is convenient to them and see a whole selection of properties in one day if they wish.”

Prices start at £137,950 for a one bedroom property at Baldwin Lofts.

George added: “Historically, September is the time for purchasers to return from their holidays and start looking for a new home to move into before Christmas. Combined with the ‘correction’ in prices, we believe this makes it a good time to buy.

“At Baldwin Lofts for example the rental yield – what the landlord can expect as return on investment – could be as much as 10 per cent, compared to a national average of 3.2 per cent.
