Young people in Bristol are taking advantage of the first-time buyer incentives currently on offer at The Zone, Barratt's award-winning development in the Temple Quarter area of the city.

Richard Rubino (21), who works as a sales manager in the Broadmead Shopping Centre, recently moved into a two-bedroom Skyline apartment at the site.

"I bought my apartment through Barratt's First Time Buyer Initiative Scheme, which aims to make homes more affordable for people currently priced out of the property market," Richard said.

"It's a lovely ground floor apartment and it's very spacious inside. There are two double bedrooms, an open-plan living/dining/kitchen area and a colour co-ordinated bathroom.

"There are lots of advantages to living at The Zone," Richard continued. "There's a fully equipped residents' gym, which is great for doing cardio workouts, and the train station is minutes away - it's really convenient for getting out and about at the weekend."

Andrea Pilgrim, Barratt sales director, added: "We are working with English Partnerships on the First-Time Buyer Initiative Scheme at The Zone.

"This scheme is part of the Government's low-cost home ownership initiative and allows key workers and other eligible groups to secure a mortgage for a minimum of 50 per cent of the full purchase price.

"In return, the government assists with the remaining per cent, which the buyer repays over time and when the property is sold," she continued.

"Private buyers can purchase apartments through Barratt's Head Start initiative, which enables first-time buyers to secure a mortgage for 85 per cent of the total property price, with Barratt financing the remaining 15 per cent for up to 10 years."

The Zone offers a selection of Citipad studio apartments and traditional one, two and three-bedroom apartments, with prices ranging from £87,000 to £210,000. It recently picked up a Daily Telegraph ‘Your New Home' award for the country's best city centre development.
