Rush hour commute a distant memory for homebuyer

Rush hour commute a distant memory for homebuyer An MOD officer can now enjoy a short stroll to work at Abbey Wood, in Filton after moving to a brand new home at Cheswick. Defence equipment and support officer Peter Terry has relocated to Redrow’s new development with his wife Wendy to be closer to his office, after growing tired of the long daily commute from the couple’s previous home in Hampshire.

Peter’s move was aided by the MOD’s relocation package and he joins other MOD personnel who have previously bought new homes at Tallsticks, the first hamlet to be built at Redrow’s Cheswick ‘urban village’ development.

Delighted Peter said: “I started work here in April last year and my daily journey from our previous home was becoming a drain. It made perfect sense to move to Tallsticks as it is in the ideal location for me to walk to work. This was a key requirement in my decision to relocate”

“We are also fans of new build homes, as there are no repairs or refurbishment to worry about, which leaves us with more time to enjoy our hobby of travelling in our motorhome. Our new house is also a blank canvas for decorating, which has enabled us to put our own design stamp on it.”

But convenience was not the only advantage that drew Peter and Wendy to their new home four-bedroom townhouse at Tallsticks. They also found that the eco-credentials were a major plus, as they have always endeavoured to reduce their carbon footprint.

“We installed solar panels at our old house and we were very pleased to discover they were already in place on the roof of our new home to heat the water”, Peter said.

“There are also a host of other eco friendly features and, as well as making the property kinder to the environment, they will also save us money on our fuel bills. And, of course, replacing my long car journey to work with a short stroll is much more environmentally friendly too!”

Set in leafy surroundings in Filton, close to Bristol city centre, Cheswick will eventually boast shops, places to eat and all the local amenities of an established residential neighbourhood.

Consisting of contemporary apartments, terraced homes, detached properties and three-storey villas, the homes at Cheswick are all designed to achieve level three of the new Code for Sustainable Homes – two years ahead of targets set by Government – making them more energy efficient and cheaper to run while still appearing and functioning as a normal home.

There are currently one and two-bedroom apartments, plus three and four-bedroom homes available, priced from £114,995 to £274,950.

Part exchange is available on selected plots, which means Redrow will effectively act as a cash buyer for customer’s existing property paving the way for a smooth move to a new home. It is one of a number of incentives available to buyers under the banner of ‘re:assure’, which can be tailored to suit individual needs.
