A waterside retreat in Bristol

And, thanks to George Wimpey’s Portus development in Portishead, he and his wife Annie found they didn’t have to give up the attractive and relaxing environment which they had enjoyed in Southampton.
Steve says: “Annie and I had lived in Southampton for years. Our house had the New Forest only 50 yards from the front door so, when we chose to move home to Bristol, we thought that natural environment would be something we’d miss. However, George Wimpey’s Portus development is within walking distance of the seaside and has a nature reserve on its doorstep which means it more than compensates for the location we left behind.”
As well as choosing a development which gave them the attractive and tranquil surroundings they were used to, the Pearsons chose a showhome as their new property. The four bedroom, detached Richmond style house comprises a dual aspect living room, separate dining room, large kitchen with breakfast area, convenient downstairs cloakroom, four bedrooms, one with en-suite shower room, and a family bathroom.
With a spacious feeling throughout, the Richmond offered the Pearsons versatile, modern living while also giving them additional features such as a water feature in the garden and carpeting throughout. It was these features which the Pearson’s fell in love with.
Steve commented: “We knew the Richmond showhome was the property for us as soon as we walked through the front door. All of our friends have been impressed with the house’s ‘wow’ factor and not only is it the home of our dreams, it also gives us additional benefits. The showhome’s finishing touches included an island fitting with bar stools in the kitchen plus a two-seater sofa which makes this space the centre of our house. I was also taken with the size of the bedrooms as they were so large. I even converted one into a study which Annie and I use to run a small, part time business from home.”
Located only 10 miles from Bristol city centre, George Wimpey’s Portus development has proven to be an ideal place for the Pearsons to set up home: “Portus is an ideal location as all the facilities you need for everyday life are close at hand without sacrificing the development’s peaceful, village setting,” Steve explained.
“The sales consultants at Portus couldn’t have been more helpful. Their support has been superb and nothing was too much trouble for them. We came to view the homes available, fell in love with the Richmond showhome and, much to our surprise, exchanged contracts only a week later. We’d definitely recommend Portus and George Wimpey to other house hunters as they made the whole process so quick and easy for us.”
Located in the popular Port Marine area, Portus has attracted house hunters looking for a home at an exclusive development close to the sea. A selection of stylish four, five and six bedroom homes are available, with prices starting from £236,995. Benefitting from good road links into Bristol, Portus is only 10 miles from Bristol city centre with everyday amenities on the doorstep in Portishead.
