DVLA customer gets foot in the door

Clacton-on-Sea chiropodist Kevin Withers put his best foot forward and became the first person in Britain to buy a DVLA Personalised Registration online – thanks to DVLAs’ new commercial website!

While the agency has sold millions of private registrations over the past 20 years, the 49-year-old became its latest unique customer when, at 8.20am on Thursday, October 9, he combined his initials and profession in buying the rather apt plate, KW54 TOE.
Mr Withers, said: “I just couldn’t believe how easy the on-line system was to use. In less than five minutes from start to finish the plate was mine. Tremendous.”

He added: “I didn’t realise it at the time, but it’s always nice to be the first in anything.”

In launching the new online system, DVLA Personalised Registrations has logged onto the 21st century with its user-friendly web-service designed to make buying a personalised registration as swift and easy as possible.

Combining with the agency’s much heralded interactive site, which allows users to instantly hunt through the 28 million registrations available, place it on a car of their choice and then, with several clicks of a mouse, have it for their own. Previously, the DVLA operated a telephone-sales system only.

Damian Lawson, marketing manager for DVLA Personalised Registrations, said: “While our telesales scheme has stood a great test of time, with more and more people becoming internet-literate, being able to buy direct online is certainly the future.”

DVLA Personalised Registrations’ immense catalogue of more than 28 million unissued registrations is available to view via its website. Prices start from a fully inclusive £250 and can be viewed at dvlaregistrations.co.uk
