Wiltshire development is on the radar

The development will eventually comprise of 143 new homes and home working units built on land originally occupied by the grand Cowbridge House and a mill, which dates back to the 1700s. This historic building is to be converted into a stylish restaurant as part of a larger redevelopment package.
The choice for home buyers will include apartments, semi-detached and detached houses, terraced homes and three-storey town houses, offering everything from one to five bedrooms.
The invitation-only sales launch at the Old Bell Hotel, Malmesbury, was well attended as potential buyers viewed a range of computer-generated images and a scale model to show how the development will eventually look.
The site was formerly owned by Lucent Technologies and used for manufacturing until 1996 – including as a Second World War radar factory.
Award winning developer Redrow has planning permission for 112 private dwellings, including some home working units, plus 27 key worker apartments and four socially rented apartments.
Sandra Hughes, sales manager for Redrow Homes (South West), says: “The launch was the first opportunity for people to see the stunning designs on offer at Cowbridge Mill, and they received a great reception.
“This is a beautiful location and home owners will enjoy the benefits of a countryside setting, overlooking the river, mill race and water meadows.
“A protected mature tree belt within the site will be retained, creating an attractive backdrop, and proposed refurbishment of the mill building into a restaurant will be an added attraction for our customers.
“There’s also an easy commute to the M4 for access to Swindon and Bristol, whilst Malmesbury is about halfway between the historic city of Bath and the capital of the Cotswolds, Cirencester.”
Malmesbury itself is an ancient market town with a wealth of 17th and 18th century buildings, many of which now accommodate a host of welcoming pubs and shops, and is famous for its seventh century abbey and gardens. The town has all of the local amenities people would expect, including a choice of good schools.
The site’s vendor, Minton Group, has retained land to provide an office courtyard scheme and will undertake the mill-to-restaurant conversion.
As part of its development, Redrow will be contributing to an enhanced local bus service, a cycle route between Cowbridge Mill and the centre of Malmesbury, off-site skate park and/or a youth centre, plus the refurbishment of Malmesbury town hall.
There are currently a range of two-bedroom apartments on sale at Cowbridge Mill from £182,995 to £198,995, which come with either a single or double parking space.
