Trafficlink enters into new two year deal with Global Radio

28th October 2008 Print
Listeners to all of Global Radio’s 71 stations will shortly benefit from enhanced traffic and travel news following a deal between Trafficlink (a subsidiary of ITIS Holdings plc), Global Radio and UBC. Stations forming the Hit Music Network which includes Capital Radio in London, the Galaxy and Heart networks, Gold, and Xfm will receive information, bulletins and scripts directly from Trafficlink’s seven regional offices. Classic FM and LBC will also receive voiced bulletins and live information.

The new service will include a feed of up to the minute traffic and travel information to each of Global’s radio station websites, giving users 24/7 access to local travel news. It also opens up further potential opportunities for Global Radio and its listeners to take advantage of other traffic related products and services developed in association with ITIS.

The new two year deal underlines Trafficlink's position as the UK's leading supplier of Traffic and Travel information, as they now provide information to 90% of the UK's Independent Local Radio market as well as the BBC, ITV and Sky. Trafficlink information reaches over 40 million people in the UK each week and is compiled from over 4,000 CCTV images, traffic sensors, contacts with the Police, HA and other local sources and ITIS’ leading Floating Vehicle Data network.

Nick Simmons, Managing Director of Trafficlink said: “We are delighted that Global has chosen to extend our travel news onto their newly acquired GCap stations. This follows a very successful service to Global Radio and Gold and shows Trafficlink will continue to be a leading player as the radio industry enters a new and exciting era.”
