Praise from Office of Fair Trading for Bosch Car Service

The Bosch Car Service Consumer Code of Practice Annual Report covered the 12 month period from 12 June 2007 to 11 June 2008, and documented evidence that the programme was indeed working to the OFT approved Code of Practice and has robust auditing procedures in place.
In response to the report, OFT case manager for the Consumer Protection Group Patricia Aloysius said: “The evidence provided by Bosch in its Annual Report was felt to be very robust. The Bosch Car Service programme is clearly working hard to promote high standards and it was noted that Bosch is unwilling to compromise on standards.
“Having reviewed the report, we are satisfied that the Bosch Car Service programme is continuing to deliver consumer benefits and that the obligations of an approved code sponsor are being met”.
The Bosch Car Service network of independent garages continues to grow across the UK, with the official number of members reaching 400 earlier this year. Bosch led the way in launching its Code of Practice, which gained stage one approval from the OFT two years ago.
The OFT’s recently appointed Head of Codes Assessment Charles Wallace, also paid a visit with Bosch to Bushey Hall garage this month to discover how the Bosch Car Service code translates into the day-to-day working practices of a garage.
Following the visit from the OFT, Dawn Ayres from Bushey Hall Garage commented: “As a long standing member of the Bosch Car Service network we not only understand the importance of the OFT approval for the Code of Practice but have also seen the benefits that it has brought us as an independent garage. It has given our local consumers the confidence to expect the best possible service and customer care raising our standing within the community.
“It was great to meet someone from the OFT and we were proud to show them around our garage.”
