Community spirit flourishes at Finley Park

Community spirit flourishes at Finley Park In a little over a year, award winning house builder Miller Homes has transformed a brown field site in Farnworth into a highly desirable development of new homes. Now over 60% sold, its new ‘Finley Park’ is more than a just another new development, as Helen Toher-Horne, Miller Homes’ Sales Manager explains.

“Miller Homes purchased the land for ‘Finley Park’ back in 2006. The 3.2 acre site was a former cotton mill, dating back to around 1850, which is known locally as Longcauseway Mill. In building 97 new homes here, Miller Homes has brought this derelict site back into use.

“The choice and variety of new homes is very important in the design and planning stage. All the homes provide well-planned, high specification interiors with today’s busy lifestyles in mind. The variety of properties has been a key factor in the popularity of the development. ‘Finley Park’ has attracted many people who already live in the area and are keen to upgrade as well as home buyers moving to Farnworth because of the excellent road and rail links. The M61- A666 are less than a mile away from the development.

“Price range is also helping build the community. There are homes designed with first time buyers in mind, priced from just £74,963 with Miller Homes MiWay option; pay 75% now, 25% later. Normally these cost £99,950. Spacious 3 and 4 bed homes priced from £116,250 using Miway. In creating ‘Finley Park’ this way, with a choice of thirteen different property designs, we are doing more than just building new homes, we are helping to develop a new community.”

To help neighbourliness and sense of community, Miller Homes goes one step further, in offering every homeowner the chance to register their information on the ‘Finley Park’ neighbourhood web site called, ‘mymillerstreet’. Joining is optional and allows residents to see at a glance who lives nearby. They can leave messages, set up community groups such as car shares, book clubs, children’s activities and baby sitting circles.

First time buyer Gemma Singleton was keen to stay in the area, as she works in Swinton and has family and friends nearby. Gemma purchased a ‘Bridgewater’ apartment at Finley Park. She says: “I was attracted to the style of this apartment and its layout. The move went really smoothly and as soon as the apartment was built I was able to move in. I feel really settled here already.”
