Barratt managers lead the way Barratt Manchester's site managers have once again scooped top places in the prestigious NHBC Pride in the Job awards. A total of 10 of the developer's north west site managers took prizes in the latest round of the 12-month award scheme.

Peter Fallon of the all-apartment High Beeches development in Sharston was named regional winner in the High Rise category and is now a candidate for the NHBC Supreme Award in January.

Three other site managers (Alan Taylor of Melland Park, Reddish, Martin Caldwell of Queen's Manor, Lytham and Gavin Flannery of Sunningdale Park, Widnes) were each awarded a Seal of Excellence.

A further six site managers (Dave Lynch of Knightsbridge Park, Dukinfield, John Gosling of Beechfields, Hyde, Ralph Heaton of The Cottons, Bolton, Mark Burton of Lowry Gardens, Carlisle, Mike Fanning of Scholars Gate, Leasowe and Gary Jones, of Trafalgar View, Liverpool) each gained the Quality Award.

The NHBC Pride in the Job competition was established to improve quality and raise the standard of service to homebuyers by focusing on the day-to-day operation of the building site and the work of the site manager. Only those who demonstrate exceptional standards in every aspect of their work on site and in the homes they build are considered for a Pride in the Job Award.

"We at Barratt Manchester place great emphasis on supporting all of our site managers in reaching their goal of achieving the highest possible standards," says Barratt Manchester's Managing Director Neil Goodwin.

"We therefore take great pride that our division has achieved a record 10 Quality Awards, four Seals of Excellence and one Regional Winner, who is now in the running for the ultimate Supreme Award, which is announced on 9th January."

The competition runs over 12 months, with finalists handpicked from more than 18,000 site managers across the UK. As well as undergoing spot checks on the day-to-day running of the sites, each site manager has been assessed across 38 areas of site management, including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and the quality controls they have in place.

NHBC is the leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes in the UK. Established more than 70 years ago as a non-profit distributing company, NHBC's primary purpose is to help raise standards in the new house-building industry and provide consumer protection for new homebuyers.
