Latin name for new development

28th August 2007 Print
To honour Bath’s Roman history house builder Redrow has given its latest venture a name with a Latin twist ahead of its launch on September 8th. The Duodecim development - named after the Latin for the number 12 – will feature a dozen three-bedroom townhouses.

The high-value homes will occupy a site of 0.57 acres, off Bruton Avenue, in the sought-after Bear Flat area.

Set in a vibrant community and around a mile from the historic city centre of Bath, the beautiful and stylish new homes will have a host of enviable facilities nearby, including famous-name high street shops, excellent sports and fitness facilities and the Bath Royal Theatre.

The site is within walking distance to the train station and has excellent road links to Bristol, Wiltshire and the rest of the South West. There are also 14 schools within a two mile radius, making it an ideal location for a wide variety of homebuyers.

The homes will be sold through local estate agent Chalmers and Co, at 4 George Street, Bath.

Representatives from Redrow and Chalmers will be on hand on Saturday, September 8, between 10am and 4pm, to offer homebuyers advice and assistance. House hunters will also have the opportunity to look at brochures, specification samples and computer-generated images of the new development.

Sandra Hughes, sales manager for Redrow Homes (South West), said: “This is an excellent opportunity for people looking for a stylish home within a small enclave of exclusive private dwellings to come along and see the beautiful properties that will be available at Duodecim.

“With good local amenities on their doorstep and within easy reach of the city centre, Duodecim really will provide buyers with their dream home.”

Once tennis courts for the adjoining properties until the 1970s, the site currently comprises redundant lock-up garages.

Redrow’s scheme will comprise an impressive terrace of contemporary family homes, tailored to customers’ individual requirements, with prices starting from around £420,000. The roof space of each property will be utilised to create a third floor of valuable living accommodation and the completed development will have a finished value of around £5 million.

The homes will be of a high quality and specification, built in local Ashlar Stone with timber sash windows in keeping with the Conservation Area setting, together with more contemporary glazing in some properties.

As part of the development, Redrow will contribute to upgrading local play facilities in nearby Alexandra Park and improving local bus shelters.

The first properties should be ready to move into during summer 2008.
