Barratt sponsors Minehead charity golf tournament

14th September 2007 Print
Golfing enthusiasts in Minehead were able to learn more about Barratt Homes’ exciting new Clanville Grange development during an annual golfing event at the Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club.

The award-winning developer was sponsoring one of the golfing awards at the Arnold Palmer Charity Shield event. Organisers hope to have raised up to £3,000 for three local charities – the Musgrove Leukaemia Group Somerset, the Minehead branch of the Parkinson’s Disease Society and the West Somerset Talking Newspaper.

“The Arnold Palmer Charity Shield was set up many years ago by one of our members and it has always attracted a number of sponsors because it raises funds for worthwhile local causes,” said club secretary Gerry Mason. “We raised a record £5,000 last year, which bought a new bus for ‘Clowns’, a local group who put on plays for children in the summer.

“This year marks the 125th anniversary of the club, so it’s a special year for us,” he continued. “The Arnold Palmer Charity Shield has become a ‘traditional’ bank holiday event and we had 180 players last weekend, guests as well as club members. People were playing golf from 6.30 in the morning to 6.30 at night.”

During the charity event, golfers who took refreshments at the ‘half-way house’ gazebo on the course were able to read through marketing information on Barratt Homes’ nearby Clanville Grange development, where the show apartment has just been opened.

This two-bedroom apartment, the Hoylake, comes with an en-suite to the master bedroom, separate bathroom, fitted kitchen and an open plan lounge with kitchen area off an archway. It also boasts a balcony to the lounge - with patio doors and views over the top of Minehead town towards the Quantock hills – and an allocated parking space.

Sue Frost-Wilson, Barratt Homes sales negotiator based at the development said: “The show home is stunning, dressed in beautiful neutral colours with hints of gold and with modern furniture. It really gives visitors an excellent impression of what it would be like to live at this delightful development.

“The show apartment really is beautiful. The site is definitely starting to take shape now and we have had our first residents move in. Clanville Grange has been so successful because of its prime location in very popular residential area in the seaside resort of Minehead.”

The select development consists of just 48 properties and includes various house types from two-bedroom apartments and coach houses up to more substantial three-bedroom properties. All are built to high specification and feature a contemporary styled kitchen and either allocated parking or a garage.

Most of the properties at Clanville Grange have been reserved off plan leaving only a limited number of homes available. Barratt Homes’ part exchange scheme, which offers a hassle-free way to secure a perfect home, is available on selected plots at the development. The homebuilder also assisted sales, and has organised two for locals moving to the development.

Currently, the price for a beautiful, large one bedroom apartment is £155,000 and two bedroom apartments start from £168,950.
