New developments on the way in Somerset

Only a few homes are still available at Rio - Barratt Homes’ highly successful development in Bridgwater in Somerset – but new developments will be launched in the region shortly.

“Rio has been a great success story – we only have 12 homes left out of a total of 86,” reports Zoë Stainton, Barratt Homes’ on-site sales negotiator. “Most of our buyers are first-timers and, because the property prices are so reasonable, we’ve attracted people from as far afield as Bristol, Basingstoke and Exeter.”

The development was named in honour of Bridgwater’s famous carnival procession and, thanks to a partnership between Barratt Homes and Sedgemoor District Council, it offers a number of affordable one and two-bedroom apartments.

“We can offer properties at 80 per cent of the current market value, so we’ve been able to help new buyers onto the property ladder,” Zoë continued.

“We still have a selection of apartments and houses. Prices range from £89,600 for an affordable one-bedroom apartment to £193,950 for a three-bedroom townhouse with garage and parking space.

“In addition to reasonable prices, Rio enjoys the ideal location – it’s just a short walk to the centre of Bridgwater and the train station, and the M5 motorway is close by, offering easy access to Bristol, Taunton and Exeter.”

Barratt Homes will shortly be launching another development nearby. Located off the main road into town, Festival will nestle on the edge of the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal and will offer a selection of two-bedroom apartments and three-bedroom houses.

Additional Barratt Homes’ projects will include Stockmoor Parade, located between Bridgwater and North Petherton, and a new development on the Old Cider Works in Norton Fitzwarren near Taunton.

“Stockmoor Parade will offer homes at the more exclusive end of the market,” Zoë continued. “They will be part of the South Bridgwater Development, a major regeneration programme to provide a high-quality urban development, a new primary school and a country park near North Petherton.

“This development will offer great views of the Quantock Hills and, because it will be situated near junction 24 of the M5, it will have great commuter links.”
