London Motorsport Show with Race Car Live heads for starting line

The British Superkart series will be out in force with over thirty members taking part in demonstrations on the circuit which will take place twice each day. These pocket rockets are amazingly quick with the top formula Division 1 Superkarts capable of lapping Brands Hatch’s Indy circuit at an average speed of 97.08mph, making them one of the fastest racers at the show.
One man who knows all about karting and creating a champion is Martin Hines, the man who discovered the newly crowned Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton, who will be at the show signing copies of his new autobiography entitled Every Split Second Counts. Martin will appear on the Zip Kart stand along with Barry Lee, World Hot Rod Champion. Zip Kart will have all the latest karts and equipment on show at credit crunch beating prices.
DPR Motorsport will be promoting the new Caterham R300 series for 2009. The main DPR Motorsport display will be based on the Brightwater Technologies sponsored R300 owned by Jon Walker. The first customer-supplied R300 won all three of the Donington Eurocup invitation races including the first outright win for an R300 in the Eurocup pit-stop race and raced in the Grand Prix Historique de Provence at the Paul Ricard circuit in Southern France.
The newly-built DPR Motorsport Caterham Roadsport, driven by twenty-year old novice driver Robert Springate to sixth place in his first race at the Brands Hatch Formula Ford Festival championship round, will also be on display and Robert will be providing on-track demonstration runs throughout the day.
DPR Motorsport team principal David Rowe said "We are excited by the opportunity to be at the London Motorsport Show inc Race Car Live! In these difficult economic times we believe that Caterham racing is the most cost-effective entry point into motor sport. No other manufacturer provides the same all-encompassing support with cars that are both a fantastic driving experience and relatively low-cost to run. Our testing of the new R300 has demonstrated that this is going to be an extremely competitive package.”
The BARC south east centre will be highlighting three very successful championships and series. The Dunlop Motorsport News saloon car championship is widely accepted as being one of the best club racing championships in the UK. At every meeting the grids are oversubscribed with reserves waiting in the wings. The Chris Knott intermarque is an amalgam of sports and saloon cars (several of which are space framed). Again this has enjoyed excellent levels of entries this year. Finally the Cannons Motor Spares tin top saloons is an entry level series catering for near standard cars running on road tyres.
Other racing exhibitors includes the BMW Racing Drivers Club, promoting grass roots motorsport with its amateur club racing series, and Ginetta, with its full model range including its new car launched for the 2008 season, the 300 bhp Ginetta G50. They will be joined by the Classic Touring Car Racing Club, which will also offer passenger rides, Formula Palmer Audi, Advent Motorsport and Red Dragon Racing.
There will also be an ‘arrive and drive’ kart track as well as fantastic displays of contemporary and classic racing cars, and trade stands selling everything a driver needs to start the new season. The Future of Motorsport Zone will have all you need to know about gaining qualifications, the apprenticeships and scholarships available for a career in motorsport, be it as a driver, pit crew or designer. And for those ready to race but needing an MSA license, there is a dedicated area for drivers to have a medical and physical examination and to take their test already for the coming season.
The London Motorsport Show incorporating Race Car Live! is open from 9am until 5pm each day. Ticket prices are £15 for an adult and £10 for concessions when purchased on the door. For the latest updates or to book tickets, visit londonmotorsport.co.uk
