Bridgwater site manager wins top award

Mark Sexton, Barratt's construction manager, said: "John received the award because of his supreme attention to detail and passion for his job. He consistently achieves high standards and we are very proud of him.
"He will now be entered to win the Barratt Group title, up against all the other regional winners."
John received a £1,000 prize and was delighted with his award. "This is the first development I have overseen as site manager and it's a real honour to be nominated and to win. This is not a one man job - I have a great team working on the site," he said.
He has been with Barratt for seven years, and started as a labourer, progressing to assistant site manager and after completing relevant qualifications, sponsored by Barratt, John is now a site manager.
“I'm based at Barratt's Festival site in Bridgwater and am managing the build of 100 apartments and 25 houses. The judges inspected the site and looked at every stage and element of the build, including quality carpentry and brickwork. They also look for high standards of health and safety, as well as all paperwork up to date and a well maintained sales area."
When complete, Festival will offer a selection of apartments and three and four-bedroom houses.
Festival is located in a prime position just a short walk from Bridgwater town centre and there is a canal and tow path close to the development. Bridgwater has recently been the focus of regeneration and offers a variety of shops and amenities. There are excellent commuter links, including a train station and easy access to the M5 motorway, which connects with Bristol to the north and Taunton to the south west.
