New community shapes up at Portishead

1st October 2008 Print
New community shapes up at Portishead The new community springing up around Barratt's West Point development in the coastal town of Portishead, North Somerset, is beginning to take shape. "West Point is part of the new Village Quarter complex and the infrastructure is beginning to grow now," reports Andrea Pilgrim, Barratt sales director.

"This year has seen the opening of a new primary school, a health centre and a wild life reserve. A new bar, Jaks, has opened and work is about to commence on an Italian restaurant, Il Bottelinos. There will be a wealth of amenities for residents to enjoy in the future."

West Point is now in its second phase of development. When complete, it will offer a selection of one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses.

Current availability includes two-bedroom apartments priced from £154,995 to £169,995; three-bedroom semi-detached houses priced from £225,000.

"We can offer a number of buyer incentives," Andrea continued. "These include our three year price guarantee and part exchange for people moving up to a larger home.

Barratt's three year price guarantee is designed to protect buyers who are worried about falling house prices in the existing climate. The way it works is simple. If you want to sell your house within three years and the value is lower than what you paid for it, Barratt will refund the difference up to a maximum of 15 per cent.

"Customers who buy one of our homes with a price guarantee will only need a mortgage for 85 per cent of its value. That's because we'll give them a deferred loan for the rest and they can pay us back when they can afford it up to 10 years upon completion. It all adds up to a big helping hand for buyers."

West Point is ideally located for commuters, with the M5 motorway just three miles away, Bristol Parkway train station 14 miles away and buses regularly commuting in and around Bristol city centre.

Portishead is magnificently situated, with sweeping views of the Bristol Channel on one side and the beautiful and scenic Gordano Valley to the other. The town's stunning new marina development will eventually boast an exciting selection of trendy bars and restaurants.
