Meet the experts at Barratt’s Old Cider Works

Meet the experts at Barratt’s Old Cider Works Home buyers are in for a treat at Barratt’s Old Cider Works development near Taunton on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July, when a team of experts will be on hand to offer advice on a wide range of buyer incentives.

“We have something for everyone at the Old Cider Works and this weekend will give visitors an opportunity to find out more about our new homes and special offers,” reports Louise Terry, Barratt sales manager.

“Current availability includes a two-bedroom coach house priced at £145,500, three-bedroom houses priced between £174,750 and £201,950 and four-bedroom detached houses priced from £238,750.’’

Three show homes are currently open offering potential buyers a great opportunity to see how Barratt has styled the coach house together with the three bedroom Essex and Norbury designs.

“First-time buyers and key workers can take advantage of some excellent offers, including HomeBuy Direct, a major new Government initiative, and our own Head Start scheme,” Louise continued.

“With HomeBuy Direct, eligible homebuyers only have to pay 70 per cent of the purchase price – so they could buy a two-bedroom coach house here from as little as £101,850. The other 30 per cent is funded by a joint equity loan from Barratt and the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

“The scheme is open to first-time buyers, key workers and others who are currently renting,” she continued. “People who have previously owned a home but are now unable to do so can also apply.”

Households eligible for HomeBuy Direct will be earning less than £60,000 and would not normally be able to afford to buy a suitable property on the open market. There is no interest to pay on the equity stake for the first five years, although a small fee will be charged from year six onwards.

Buyers can redeem the loan in instalments, purchasing up to 100 per cent of the equity after their initial purchase by buying additional equity at the market rate. Alternatively, if they sell their home, the equity loan is repaid by way of a proportionate share of the sale proceeds.

“First-time buyers can also take advantage of our Head Start scheme, available on selected plots,” Louise added. “Under this scheme, they secure a mortgage for 85 per cent of the total property price and Barratt finances the remaining 15 per cent for up to 10 years. It’s a great incentive for people keen to own their first home.

“People who want to move up to a larger house can use our part exchange deal,” she continued. “Barratt is a guaranteed cash buyer - so there is no chain, no last-minute price haggling and no hidden expense.

“We can offer some exceptional deals and we hope potential buyers will take advantage of our Meet the Experts weekend to find out more,” she concluded.

The Old Cider Works just outside the busy market town of Taunton offers an ideal location for commuters as major roads like the A38, A358 and M5 provide easy access to Bristol and the south west. Taunton also has a train station, with regular services to London and Devon.
