ICON offers a lesson in being green Crest Nicholson will be opening the doors of its eco development, ICON in Street, this weekend (11 – 13 September) to show the public how they can be more environmentally friendly, as part of the Mendip Open Green Homes and Gardens Project.

The project, which has been supported by TV presenter and Somerset resident Kevin McCloud, has seen Crest Nicholson join forces with a number of local organisations and individuals to show people how they can help to combat climate change by making changes to their home, whilst saving money on their electricity bills.

Crest Nicholson will be showcasing its stylish four bedroom Baroque show home and two bedroom Deco show apartment to help homebuyers see how sustainable living could help save them money and the environment. Properties at the new eco development have been designed to include a wide variety of energy efficient measures including low energy lighting, energy efficient central heating, hot water and heat recovery ventilation systems, in addition to solar collector roof panels and high efficiency insulation and timber framed windows.

Laura Osborne, Sales Manager for Crest Nicholson, said: “The whole layout of the ICON development has been designed so that people can enjoy an environmentally friendly and socially sustainable lifestyle, and supporting the Mendip Open Green Homes and Gardens Project seemed like a good opportunity to showcase the eco-benefits of our properties. We have many excellent homes on offer so we encourage homebuyers in the local area to come and visit us this weekend to see what we have to suit all their needs.”

The first phase of the ICON development consists of 138 one and two bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom homes. Prices currently range from £105,950 for a one bedroom apartment and range to £199,950 for a three bedroom home with tandem garage.

For further information about the development, call into the on site sales and marketing suite, which is open daily from 10am to 5pm, or log on to liveicon.co.uk.
