Golf buggy bonanza

26th November 2008 Print
Golf buggy bonanza More than 450 used buggies descended on Banbury in recent weeks for two sales organised by Manheim Auctions for Mox UK Ltd. The 453 lots offered for auction included golf buggies, electric transfer (4, 6 and 8 seaters) and golf course maintenance vehicles. Manheim has organised four auctions this year for Mox UK Ltd., a subsidiary of LeasePlan Corporation, and is scheduled to organise three auctions next year. So far more than 1,600 buggies have been sold by Manheim Auctions since 2004.

Buyers at the latest auction in Banbury included golf buggy dealers, golf courses, buggy hire companies and farmers. The auctions exceeded expectations with nearly 90% of lots offered sold.

Ian Belton General Manager from Mox UK said: “This latest sales in Banbury were the most successful so far. Following our comprehensive marketing programme there was considerable interest in the buggies on offer. However we were worried that the present economic uncertainty would affect not only the numbers of buyers attending the auction but also the quality of the bids. Fortunately our worries were unfounded.”

Peter Harrison, Commercial Vehicle and Equipment Manager, Manheim Auctions said: “Manheim and Mox have worked together successfully since 2004 to establish a market for this product through an auction arena. Manheim has many years experience of delivering on-site customer auctions by taking the auction to the customer’s own premises and facilities. The subsequent elimination of transport costs is a major factor in the present economic environment.”
