Yorkshire makes its ‘Debut’
First time buyers in Selby should put Thursday 1st February in their diaries – the launch of the award-winning Debut range of affordable homes in the town is drawing closer; and a further exhibition is being held to offer more information before sales begin. The award-winning Debut housing range from Redrow Homes has been a lifeline for first time buyers across the country, with prices starting under £60,000 in several locations.
And with the forthcoming launch of Debut @ The Holmes, Yorkshire home hunters can get in on the act by heading down to Redrow’s exhibition held at Abbey Leisure centre in Selby town centre, between 5 and 8pm.
Following on from the success of a similar exhibition held at the town hall last year - where nearly 200 people turned out – this time eager buyers will have the chance to look through more detailed development plans ahead of the sales launch later this year.
The Selby scheme will feature 123 one and two-bedroom homes on the site of the former Providence Mill, off Holme Lane in Selby, with areas of public open space and the development of a riverside walk along the River Ouse also planned.
Julie Rayner, sales director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire) says: “We’re so excited about the exhibition as this is the first Debut venture in Yorkshire. Those attending the event will be able to look through plans, photos and illustrations to get a better idea of what the development will be like, and watch our fly-through DVD – as well as getting the chance to chat to our sales consultants. Crucially, people will also be able to register their interest in buying a Debut property on the night.
“Our prices will start at £59,995* for a one-bed studio, going up to £104,995** for the largest two-bedroom home. All of the properties will be priced under the all-important £125,000 stamp duty threshold. As a company, it’s great to be giving first time buyers this much needed leg-up onto the property ladder as there are so few affordable options out there at the moment.”
Debut customers can also take advantage of Redrow’s ‘Easi-buy’ option, with purchasers able to defer up to 10% of the purchase price as an interest-free fixed sum for up to 10 years. The customer has total flexibility how they pay it back – via occasional lump sums, monthly repayments or in whole at any time.
To ensure that Debut really does help to get first time buyers into the housing market, a legal framework is in place to prevent buy-to-let investors from purchasing the homes.
Much of the cost-saving in Redrow’s Debut homes comes from the way in which they are constructed, using a lightweight structural steel frame and other modern methods of construction, which speeds up the build programme without compromising on quality.
Communal heating and hot water systems also provide cost efficiencies, while replacing private gardens with shared high quality landscaped outdoor space, maintained by Redrow’s own management company, engenders a sense of community.
Special measures are in place to keep running costs as low as possible, while a monthly service charge covers utility bills, as well as building insurance and external maintenance. These features are all geared towards making home ownership accessible, affordable and easy to manage for those starting out or starting over.
