Treasure hunting for a good cause

25th July 2007 Print
William and Helen Young Eager participants played the role of detectives for a treasure hunt sponsored by Redrow Homes in aid of Saint Catherine’s Hospice in Scarborough. Starting at Redrow’s Priorpot Mews development in Norton, near Malton, the participants carefully answered questions on the development and surrounding area of Ryedale, leading them to the finishing point at the Malton and Norton rugby club for a well earned celebratory barbecue.

The hunt was just one of the fun-filled activities planned as part of the “Hospice Summer Care’ campaign, which is sponsored by Redrow Homes.

Penny Campbell, fundraiser for Saint Catherine’s Hospice says: “We were delighted with Redrow’s support. It is thanks to the fantastic efforts of businesses like Redrow Homes that this year we were able to open three new beds in the hospice thereby extending our care to more of the community. Every year we have to raise £3.5 million and we are so grateful for the opportunity to increase the services which we provide.”

Several social events have been held as part of the fundraising campaign, throughout June, including children’s sunflower colouring competitions and locals hosting the enjoyable “Tea at 3” gatherings.

Janine Bellamy, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire) says: “We are extremely happy to support a charity that does so much for the local community. More than just a housebuilder, we like to become a real part of and enhance the local communities in which we build. It’s especially good to be in a position to be able to help those less fortunate than ourselves.”

Established in 1985, St Catherine’s Hospice serves the local community by providing palliative care for adults with advanced, progressive illnesses from the surrounding areas of Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale.

Redrow’s development, Priorpot Mews, which featured within the Hospice Care Campaign treasure hunt, provides a mix of two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses.

Home buyers can uncover their own ‘hidden treasure’ by visiting the development off Scarborough Road in Norton, or for more information about the available homes log on to Redrow.co.uk.
