A swift move to Selby

26th May 2008 Print
First time buyers Russell and Victoria Jennings had dreams of owning their own home, but never imagined the swift move that Barratt York made possible. The couple had been casually looking for a new home when they noticed Barratt's Staynor Hall development in Selby. Only intending to have a quick look, they reserved a Hambleton style house the very next day.

Victoria, an account manager for a commercial finance company, said: "Russell is in the army and when he was posted to York there were no civilian quarters available for us. Russell was serving in the Falklands at the time so I was often home alone.

"We were both keen to move so when he returned for a rest week we had a look to see what was out there. On our way home from visiting another development we saw Barratt's Staynor Hall development and thought we'd have a quick look. We had no intention of buying at that stage but were so impressed with the house, service and value for money that we reserved a house the next day."

By November Russell had returned from the Falklands and five days later with the help and support of Barratt the couple were happy in their new home. "It all happened very quickly, but we were so keen to move into our new home," added Victoria.

The couple have moved into one of Barratt's popular Hambleton style townhouses. The home is designed over three storeys and comprises a spacious lounge, breakfast kitchen, three bedrooms, en-suite to master, family bathroom and a downstairs cloakroom.

"We love the house and the area is lovely and quiet, exactly what we were looking for. I can't believe it was so easy. The house is taking shape now and we're looking forward to making our mark on our new home," said Russell.

Selby boasts a large range of amenities including one of the best open-air markets in Yorkshire. An increase in local business has attracted a growing number of people to the town.

The Barratt site at Staynor Hall is part of a 1200 home development, which will also include a new primary school, pub, shops and community centre with health care facilities, which will be completed in phases over the next 12 years.
