Is buying new the smart move?

The housebuilder says that special discounts and packages, no upward chain and lower maintenance and running costs means there's never been a better time to buy new.
Bryant Homes currently has a whole host of packages and offers available, whatever your situation. These include first time buyers initiatives, schemes that help sell a purchaser's existing home and guaranteed rental offers for those looking to buy-to-let. Buyers are given a completion date and there is no chance of being gazumped or the sale falling through.
New homes are designed to accommodate modern lifestyles and offer features such as en-suite bathrooms, fitted wardrobes, plenty of built-in storage, modern appliances and flexible three storey living space not often found in older homes. Imaginative design, modern building materials and attractive street scenes all help to safeguard re-sale values and those buying early on a new development may well benefit from an up-lift in prices as the area becomes more established.
New properties have long claimed benefits over old in terms of energy efficiency and environmental impact, and a recent independent assessment, commissioned by Bryant Homes, revealed just how much homeowners could save by buying new. Using Energy Performance Certificates, Bryant Homes discovered that those living in a new home could use 55% less energy, save 65% on heating, lighting and hot water bills and generate 72% less CO2 emissions than those living in a second hand property.
The cost of DIY and maintenance of an older property is often underestimated, but research by the BBC has shown that this can mount up to over £6,000 a year per household.
Debbie Whittingham, regional sales and marketing director for Bryant Homes, comments: "There is currently much speculation and comment about the state of the property market, but smart buyers know that there are some great deals out there at the moment. The argument to buy a new home over second hand is also compelling, both in terms of the help being offered to make your move affordable and hassle-free, and the costs you can save once you move in."
Bryant Homes currently has a range of properties across North Yorkshire including Kings Chase in Coulby Newham, Parkside in Darlington, Derwent View in Dipton, Hillbrook in Ingleby Barwick, Manor Park in St Helen Auckland, Willow Gardens in Stockton and Roseberry Court in Middlesbrough.
