George Wimpey supports martial arts class in Stillington

The housebuilder has donated £700 to the group, which promotes personal development through confidence and spirituality, and is open to children and adults alike throughout the local community.
The donation will go towards necessities such as insurance, travelling costs for the class teacher, Grand master Sagara Karunathilaka, new equipment and uniforms.
The class is based around five themes - self defence, self improvement, self respect, self discipline and self protection, and involves using yoga techniques, Kung Fu, Wing Chun, strength training, mental discipline and breathing techniques.
Darren Pimlott, who has been a student of the class for two years, said: "The class has been really well received by the local community and is great for giving local kids something to do. This donation from George Wimpey is a great help and will allow us to continue to provide the local people with this fantastic activity.
"I have lived in Stillington since I was 14 and it's quite difficult at that age to find something to do. This class is perfect for filling free time. Our teacher, Grand Master Sagara Karunathilaka, delivers a syllabus which is advanced but based on the correct use of human movement basics which is both enjoyable and educational."
Maria Gatehouse, regional sales manager for Becksmead, said: "This class sounds like great fun and the involvement of the community is just the kind of thing that George Wimpey likes be a part of. I hope Sagara, Darren and the rest of the class have a really enjoyable time."
George Wimpey is currently based in Stillington with new housing development Becksmead, which is situated on Morrison Street.
