Volvo wins security award for 2nd year

Volvo has been crowned overall ‘Best Manufacturer’ in the annual British Insurance Car Security Awards (BISCA). Hosted by Thatcham, the Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre, the 'Best Manufacturer' award is given to the manufacturer, "with the most model ranges and widest market coverage, over the past 12 months, whose trim variants across each range fully meet the awards selection criteria."

The awards are aimed to raise consumer awareness of vehicle security and recognise manufacturers’ efforts to make more secure cars, and are supported by the insurance industry, the Home Office, the Department for Transport, the AA Motoring Trust and the Advanced Automotive Glazing Manufacturer’s Association.

Security is another important, and more personal example, of Volvo's commitment to the highest standards of safety, quality and design, and this award will reassure customers that, across the range, Volvo is an excellent choice."

Standard security features across the Volvo range include an alarm, immobiliser and deadlocks, complemented by personal safety features such as a 'panic' button on the key fob, 'Home Safe' and approach lighting to illuminate your way from the car as you leave or its interior and surrounding area as you approach, plus the option of laminated windows across most of the range.

In addition, the recent introduction of ‘Volvo On Call’, an optional in-car telematics system, provides an SOS button to directly call the emergency services, if required, and also automatically contacts the emergency services if it senses an airbag is deployed. An auxiliary Volvo On Call button can also provide personal assistance from a Volvo Call Centre, which can also track the car if it is stolen, or remotely unlock it, at the driver's request.
