Europ Assistance launches free vehicle inspections

9th December 2008 Print
The nation’s two million motorists who enjoy comprehensive breakdown cover from Europ Assistance can now take advantage of a complimentary new service which has been launched in conjunction with one of the country’s largest fast-fit networks.

Available immediately, through a simple phone call, all members now benefit from access to free, no obligation vehicle health checks which can be carried out at any of ATS Euromaster’s 470 service centres nationwide. This enables Europ Assistance to deliver increased value to its clients in addition to the emergency roadside support they already receive, with customers encouraged to regularly test their vehicles to help protect against the risk of a breakdown.

Paul Everett, Sales and Client Services Director for Europ Assistance comments: “Two of the most common causes of mechanical breakdown relate to battery and tyre issues. If we can help prevent these avoidable faults in the first place, then it will massively reduce the inconvenience motorists experience when their car breaks down or fails to start when they need it most.

“A vehicle health check takes only 15 minutes, and there is no need to book, making it an ideal way to prepare for a long journey or to undertake on a regular basis. If customers have suffered a recent breakdown then it’s also important they have their vehicle fully checked over in a professional workshop environment to ensure no further issues remain.”

Each vehicle health check covers tyre tread depth, tyre condition, tyre pressure and includes visual inspections of front brakes, battery, exhaust and shock absorbers, with a written report issued to drivers on completion.

“In most cases, customers should receive a clean bill of health for their car or van, providing additional peace of mind. However, if any items do need rectifying then customers automatically benefit from a 10% discount on tyres, batteries and other major fast-fit items across the ATS Euromaster network, simply by quoting the relevant scheme offer,” adds Everett.

Vince McGurk, Operations Director at ATS Euromaster, adds: “It’s great to be able to give a customer’s car a clean bill of health, but our technicians will flag-up any problem areas we do find, such as worn brake discs, a weak battery or even a slow puncture. In these cases it is usually cheaper and more convenient to rectify the problem immediately, rather than waiting for the car to breakdown when you need it most, let alone be involved in an accident.”

Europ Assistance is making this additional benefit available to both existing and new customers, with details of the scheme available from its website or from the insurance company or broker through whom they purchased their policy. It is hoped that this will help to reduce avoidable breakdowns thus offering greater peace of mind to customers.
