EOBD Approval for Bosch MOT testing equipment

Difficulties in gaining accurate engine speed and temperature measurements in MOT tests could be a thing of the past thanks to Bosch. The company has announced that it has been given the green light to use EOBD for engine speed and temperature measurement on its BEA range of emissions equipment for MOT testing.

This important update will put an end to the technical problems of obtaining engine speed measurements via external adaption on more modern vehicles.

The UK MOT emissions software is currently being modified to enable EOBD to be used, and should be available from March 2009. These updates will allow the operator to select between the two options of traditional engine speed and temperature measurement or EOBD measurement during the test.

Modifications are currently being made to the PC based software and the Bosch BEA 850 emissions tester software, and software for the processor based BEA150, 250 and 350 models.
