Something for nothing: IOPDC makes membership free

In the current financial climate it’s rare to find something for nothing. But that’s exactly what’s on offer from the Institute of Professional Drivers and Chauffeurs (IOPDC).

It has launched Associate Membership, an all-new level of involvement which is TOTALLY FREE to all professional drivers.

Associate Membership benefits include access to:

Expert industry advice and resources
Driver training and recruitment facilities
Assistance with industry driver and vehicle licensing
The IOPDC’s Business Directory and Discussion Forums
A regular E-newsletter featuring industry news and offers
Invitations to exclusive networking events

Adrian Seymour is director of the IOPDC. He explained: “We are very aware that times are tough and are responding to that directly. The IOPDC exists to provide support for Britain’s professional drivers and chauffeurs. We believe this new level of membership is an excellent introduction to the organisation, and the best part is that it’s free to all who work in our industry.”

A newly expanded second tier, Executive Membership, is also available. For the first time it includes a personal accident scheme as standard. Developed in conjunction with Aston Scott Group Ltd (astonscott.com), it includes:

Accidental Death £50,000
Temporary Total Disablement £500 per week for 104 weeks, with no deferment period
Paraplegia: £50,000
Quadriplegia: £125,000
Medical Expenses: up to £20,000
Funeral Expenses: up to £10,000
Dental Expenses: up to £2,000

All of these benefits operate on a 24/7 basis. This means drivers are always covered, not just when they are working.

Adrian Seymour commented: “By protecting our members, everyone benefits. Drivers’ families will feel valued and secure in the knowledge that if the unthinkable should happen, they will be compensated.”

On the open market this cover is valued at up to £500 a year, but it’s available free as part of Executive Membership. Executive Membership costs £12 per month, or £144 a year.

Also included in Executive Membership – and at no extra charge – is a range of discounts specially negotiated by the IOPDC. Called Driver Advantage, it includes discounts on vehicle purchase/leasing, servicing and repairs, breakdown cover, car hire, healthcare and other financial services. Two legal helplines – one general, one motoring specific – with independent and impartial advice are also available.
