David Wilson goes green at new show home

Situated on Biddenham Vale, The Fairways is the latest development to launch by the esteemed housebuilder and comprises a selection of one-, two-, three-, four- and five- bedroom homes ideal for buyers looking for quality homes in an exclusive and modern environment.
Two showhomes and one viewhome was opened to prospective customers during the launch weekend and bosses were hoping to impress with the eco-friendly interior of the three- bedroom Mews showhome plot two which aims to be as green yet as stylish as possible.
Interior Design company Intu Interiors were given this challenging task, Managing Director Bev Newstead takes us through the scheme. She comments “The brief for the showhome was ‘Can ethics meet aesthetics?’ and I think we have proved that they certainly can.
“The vast majority of the materials and products inside the showhome are either recycled, reused or vintage. All products are fair trade sourced and the materials are both natural and sustainable.
“The lounge is of particular interest as it has been furnished using a combination of recycled and refurbished furniture. The sofas are vintage and were originally upholstered in vegetable dyed natural leathers and have been restored using organic leather renovating products.
“All the fabrics are either recycled or environmentally friendly. The curtains are made form organic cotton and have been thermal lined to enhance the property’s low heat loss elevations. Many of the accessories have been made from bamboo which is known for its exceptional sustainability and the cushions are made from antique scarves and sustainable wool and cashmere yarns.
“The antique clock on the wall was bought from a reclamation yard and the canvas was recycled and repainted in a new style and colours.
“We’re thrilled with the finished look of the showhome and it definitely demonstrates that interiors can look good whilst being environmentally friendly.”
Jackie Day, Sales Director for David Wilson comments “The Mews showhome at The Fairways looks fantastic, Intu Interiors have done a tremendous job proving that eco-friendly products can look just as impressive whilst being kinder to the environment.
“It’s quite often the case that when you buy a new home you naturally want to buy brand new furniture to fill it, but hopefully buyers will be impressed with the green interior design and take inspiration when decorating their new homes.”
The Fairways is the latest development by David Wilson and is a collection of 106 new homes at the recently launched Biddenham Vale consortium in Bedford. Offering homebuyers an exquisite selection of one-, two-, three-, four- and five- bedroom properties, this development is ideal for those seeking quality homes in a desirable location.
