Schoolboy wows judges to win top prize A pupil from St James’ Lower School in Biddenham has become the proud owner of a Nintendo DS after his entry scooped top prize in a colouring competition organised by David Wilson South Midlands to coincide with the opening of its brand new The Fairways development in Biddenham Vale.

Children at the school between the ages of 6 and 8 were set the challenge of drawing their favourite animal with the winning entries going on display in the bedroom of the eco-themed showhome at the new development.

In-keeping with the environmentally friendly theme of the showhome, all entries were drawn on ellie-poo paper, which is paper made from elephant dung, and had to be drawn using environmentally friendly materials.

It was a close competition but six year old Mauricio Tronca proved triumphant.

Jackie Day, Sales Director for David Wilson comments “We were very impressed with the quality of the entries but Mauricio’s stood out from the crowd. His colourful drawing of a goldfish in its bowl wowed all the judges and it was a unanimous decision that he should win.

“As a company, we’re committed to getting involved with local organisations and as The Fairways is a family orientated development, we thought this would be the ideal opportunity for community participation in the design of our fantastic new showhome.”

Karen Luscombe, Headteacher at St James’ Lower School comments “The children really enjoyed taking part in the colouring competition and the fact that their entries had to be drawn on the ellie-poo paper proved quite a novelty.

“Mauricio was absolutely delighted to win the Nintendo DS and have his work put on display in the new showhome and I’d like to thank David Wilson for asking the school to take part.”

All entries into the competition will be put on display in one of the children’s bedrooms in the Mews showhome at The Fairways where people are invited to come along and take a look.

The Fairways is the latest development by David Wilson and is a collection of 106 new homes at the recently launched Biddenham Vale consortium in Bedford. Offering homebuyers an exquisite selection of one-, two-, three-, four- and five- bedroom properties, this development is ideal for those seeking quality homes in a desirable location.
