Meet the property experts in Bedfordshire

Leading local house-builders George Wimpey and Bryant Homes are hosting a number of special ‘Ask The Experts’ events starting this Saturday 9th May between 12pm and 4pm at the Westlow Abbey development in Wixams, near Bedford.
This will be followed on Thursday 14th May between 4pm and 8pm and Saturday 16th May between 12pm and 4pm at the pretty Woodlands Park development in North Brickhill, Bedford.
By coming along, visitors to the two developments can speak to local estate agents, solicitors and financial advisors to gain the information they need to help them make the right move.
Jason Colmer, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for George Wimpey, explains: “Many people want to move home but are sometimes worried about getting the right mortgage deal or don’t want the hassle or costs of selling their property.
“Through our new ‘Ask the Experts’ days, buyers can receive clear-cut answers to any questions they might have, to help them make informed decisions and save thousands of pounds.”
In addition to sound advice on the many options today’s movers face, visitors can find out about owning a three-bedroom home for only £137,000 – 70% of the full market price – using the Government’s HomeBuy shared equity scheme at Westlow Abbey.
Meanwhile, a range of additional money-saving incentives for all types of buyers at both Westlow Abbey and Woodlands Park, where three, four and five-bedroom homes are available.
For example, first-time buyers can have their stamp duty paid up to 1%, receive a free mortgage broker service, free removals and get a competitive mortgage quote within just 72 hours.
While for those with a house to sell, George Wimpey and Bryant can provide a fast valuation on their current property, market their existing home, pay estate agents fees, provide help with legal fees and take care of their Home Information Pack.
John Wakefield from New Homes Mortgage Services and Ross Dougall from Bedford estate agents Lane & Holmes, are just two of the experts who will be dispensing vital information at the events.
Said John: “I think there has never been a better time to buy new. Prices offered by housebuilders are very attractive and a new home brings all the benefits of lower utility bills as well as a choice of fixtures and fittings.
“A lot of people are looking to buy at the moment and for those taking advantage of builders’ incentive schemes, or with at least a 10% deposit, now is the time to buy.”
Added Ross: “With house prices having fallen it’s a great time to move upmarket, as relatively speaking the cost to move to a bigger or better home is as small as it has been for some time.
“There is also significant demand for property with no chain which is ready to move into, and naturally, a new home offers both of these things.
“Meanwhile, investment buyers are starting to return to the buy to let market – falling interest rates means there is little point in keeping money in the bank, and rental demand remains strong.”
Westlow Abbey by George Wimpey is part of Lakeview, the first of four villages which will make up the self-contained, sustainable town of Wixams, three miles south-west of Bedford.
The area will benefit from new shops, community and leisure facilities, schools and employment areas, in addition to 300 acres of sports pitches, parklands and green open space.
Bryant Homes’ Woodlands Park development is conveniently situated just over a mile from Bedford town centre, while the development is surrounded by peaceful countryside, close to conservation areas and a stone’s throw from Priory Country Park – more than 200 acres of opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors, including walking, cycling, boating and angling.
