Home is where the art is

Home is where the art is Pupils at a Silsoe school are set to benefit thanks to an arty initiative set up by a local housebuilder. The pupils at Silsoe Lower School have been busy creating pictures of their dream home for a design competition set up by Miller Homes.

The private housebuilder said it would donate £2 to the school for every entry received, but has now doubled its offer and will present the school with a cheque for £400.

Steve Garton, Sales and Marketing Director for Miller Homes, commented: “When we develop in an area we always want to give something back to the community, and we have really enjoyed working with the pupils at Silsoe Lower School. The money raised from the competition will go towards building some raised vegetable beds for the pupils.”

The standard of entries from the pupils was really high and there was one winner from each class. Each of the six winning entries were announced at the school’s summer fete on Saturday and winning pupils’ work of art will be displayed in the show home of Miller Homes’ Silsoe development in Barton Road, throughout the month of July.

Miller Homes at Silsoe offers a selection of two, three, four and five bedroom homes which, when complete, will be a prestigious new neighbourhood which blends in harmoniously with its surroundings. The show home is open from Thursday to Monday between 10am and 5pm.
