Grand Tour Internazionale di Sicilia - Targa Florio ‘Five thousand years of history in eight days’ is the exciting challenge promised to participants of the 2009 Grand Tour International Sicilia-Targa Florio. Potential Time Lords will be whisked through centuries of Sicilian history while keeping their four wheels strictly in the present day.

This is the second time the rally, run by the Associazione Culturale “La Sicilia dei Florio” will be held and this year the route has been altered to highlight different areas of the island.

The event is for classic, vintage and veteran cars, and is a mixture of regularity runs, race tracks and touring. Also special modern cars may apply for participation.

Many of Sicily’s important cultural sites, including the stunning Temple of Segesta, will be visited on the route which covers the western part of the island starting from Sicily’s capital Palermo.

The organisers are offering an extraordinary event presenting the most spectacular views and the most beautiful roads of the island.

Date: May 25th - June 1st, 2009
Location: Sicily - Italy (start from Palermo)
Itinerary: Palermo, Monreale, Segesta, Erice, Trapani, Isle of Favignana, Isle of Mothia, Marsala, Selinunte, Santa. Margherita Belice, Agrigento, Racalmunto (racetrack), Compofelice, Cefalu, Castelbuono.
