Raw performance, raw power

The Hand Built British Sports Car Pavilion at the PistonHeads Show is a great place to see the cream of UK engineering and design talent. With fears of a ‘winter of discontent’ for the manufacturing and engineering industries, the good news is that many small sports car manufacturers are weathering the storm. Look no further than Raw Sports cars, unveiling the Raw Fulcrum at the show, held on 8-11 January at the NEC, Birmingham.

Based on the race-proven Raw Striker chassis, the Fulcrum is a modern track-and-road sports car, extremely light-weight and using tuned Toyota engines. With aerodynamic, all-enveloping bodywork, a few cockpit frills and engines up to 300bhp, the Fulcrum promises great fun and performance on a relatively modest budget.

“We’ve aimed the Fulcrum at the road and trackday market, a market we believe is growing as drivers shift from costly supercars,” said Mal Coppock, Raw Managing Director. “We’ve pushed the concept further than previous models, with a GPS data-logger and modern instrumentation that can record lap times and information, that you can then download to a laptop or PC. The PistonHeads show is the perfect showcase for us; we’re pleased to be returning.”

Raw will also be unveiling the Striker Challenge, a racing series for the firm’s popular Striker model run in collaboration with the 750 Motor Club. Competitors will be able to purchase a fixed-specification racing car for only £14,999, with an optional £2,700 package that even includes the cost of obtaining a racing license!

“The UK has a long and distinguished history of specialist sports car production, and the Hand Built British Sports Car Pavilion demonstrates that those skills are still very much alive and kicking,” said PistonHeads Show Manager David Ryan. “The Raw Fulcrum, as well as other new cars such as the Zolfe Orange, means that for the trackday enthusiast, it’s got to be the PistonHeads Show in January.”
