Local businessman wins Iveco Daily van in national competition

Ian Bennet, a local businessman from Leeds, has won a brand new Iveco Daily panel van just days after the engine in his Nissan Cabstar failed terminally, leaving him without a commercial vehicle.

Ian entered a competition in the Daily Star, before flying off for a week’s holiday in the sun, returning to hear the fantastic news that he had won the Iveco Daily 35S12, which has a recommended retail price of £19,500.

"Last year was a bad year for vehicles as I had two stolen in the space of just 10 weeks," says Ian, a partner in GLB Location Services, which hires equipment to the television and film industry. "2006 didn’t seem to be going much better when the Nissan packed in, so I saw the competition to win a Daily van and thought I’d give it a go.

"I don’t normally enter competitions, and I didn’t think I stood a chance of winning, but I’m absolutely over the moon and the Daily is the perfect tool for the job. Northern Commercials, the local Iveco distributor, has even fitted a tow bar which will enable me to tow the mobile generators which we hire," he adds.

The vehicle will also be used to support Ian’s other business – the Cavendish Stores convenience shop in Cavendish Street, Leeds – which will see the Daily making regular runs to the cash and carry.

As Europe’s number one and one of the top three most popular light commercial vehicles in the UK, the Iveco Daily has picked up a trio of top industry awards in the past nine months. These include being voted Van of the Year by What Van?, Fleet Van of the Year by Motor Transport and Britain’s Ultra Light Truck by Professional Van & Light Truck.

The Daily 35S12 offers a 12 m³ load carrying capacity; one of eight different load space volumes available from 7 to 17.2 m³. It is also one of 3,000 different models in the Daily line-up, with gross vehicle weights from 3.2 to 6.5 tonnes, comprising a comprehensive selection of vans, chassis cabs and chassis crew cabs.
