Persimmon Homes supports first time buyers First time buyers Sarah and Jason Birnie have recently secured themselves a brand new property thanks to the team at Persimmon Homes South Midlands.

Jason, a self employed telematics engineer and Sarah, who’s just started her own retail outlet for mothers and babies, As Cute As on Bromsgrove High Street, have lived together in rented accommodation for over six years, and have longed for a place they could call their own with their expanding family, but unfortunately didn’t have the savings needed to buy a property the traditional way.

After speaking with a friend, they heard about the 85 per cent shared equity Helping Hand scheme which is available to first time buyers at Persimmon’s Windsor Heights development in Redditch. Through the scheme homebuyers just have to find a mortgage for 85 per cent of the asking price, while the remaining 15 per cent is funded as a loan from Persimmon Homes, which is interest free for a number of years.

Sarah and Jason visited the development, which offers a great selection of three and four bedroom housetypes, but the couple still didn’t believe they could afford such a large property as their first home. That was until they spoke to Tina the sales adviser at Windsor Heights.

Sarah states: “We weren’t sure that we could afford to buy because we hadn’t been able to save for a deposit, we were so happy when we found from Tina that we were eligible for the shared equity incentive as it meant we could afford our beautiful four bedroom Kensington townhouse without any initial financial outlay.”

Jason adds: “We were thrilled at the prospect of getting on to the property ladder after thinking it wouldn’t happen for us for a number of years.

“We fell in love with our home straightaway as its spacious and practical suits our needs very well and there’s even a balcony! The development is also in a great location for both Sarah and I as we both need to commute. It’s also very handy for getting to Redditch’s town centre.”

Now that the couple have moved in they couldn’t be happier. “We love our new home. Going from rented accommodation to a four bedroom property is pure luxury and we can’t believe our luck,” continues Sarah.

Alison Reading, sales director for Persimmon Homes South Midlands, says: “At Persimmon we are dedicated to supporting first time buyers achieve home ownership, no matter what their personal circumstances or financial situation.

“We are of course very pleased we have been able to help out Sarah and Jason and hope that they will be happy at Windsor Heights for many years to come.”

Windsor Heights hosts a collection of three, three/four and four bedroom homes in a range of differing styles. Prices start from £124,995 for a two bedroomdesign.

The development is situated close to the heart of Redditch’s vibrant town centre. Purchasers at this beautiful site will benefit from a host of amenities including supermarkets, high street shops and restaurants, cinemas and the local train station with links to Worcester, Birmingham and beyond. Windsor Heights is located in close proximity to the A441 and M42, making it an ideal retreat for commuters.
