Turbo Dynamics see in new season at Autosport Show Turbocharger specialists, Turbo Dynamics (TD) saw in the new motorsport season this month with a presence at the world-renowned Autosport International Racing Car Show.

The company had an 8x5 metre stand at the event in conjunction with their sponsored customer, Hants Fire & Rescue Rally Team (HFRRT). Turbo Dynamics Managing Director, Peter Marsh was present along with Marketing Manager, Natasha Miller and Technical Sales Advisor, Matt Waterman. The group met with potential and current customers/suppliers at the event, answering questions and giving advice on their products and services.

The team were accompanied at the stand by HFRRT driver, Mark Daniels who was on-hand to talk to people about the dangers of drink driving, speeding and not wearing seatbelts etc. Daniels, a retained Firefighter, put pictures of car crashes, which he’d been called out to, on the stand display boards to promote the road safety message.

Turbo Dynamics had a selection of products on display in their cabinet including the ground-breaking hybrid MD555 turbocharger, which was shown with ceramic coating. The MD555 has been labelled as the ‘Ultimate Subaru Turbo’. TD also displayed an ex-Formula One Cosworth turbocharger, TiAL Sport wastegates and blow off valves, Turbo Dynamics dump valves and their award for Best Performance & Sports Stand at Autosport from 2007; when they last attended.

Goodie bags were given out at the stand, containing trade information and promo products such as, TD notepads, pens and car window stickers. The popular window stickers can be requested directly from the company by sending them a S.A.E. The stickers are free of charge, but limited to one per address.

Peter Marsh said: “We were delighted to once again have a presence at the Autosport Show. It is felt that marketing and keeping our name ‘out there’ is important during this time, with the unstable economy, so we were really pleased that we could attend the show in conjunction with Hants Fire & Rescue Rally Team. The Autosport Show itself went very well and had a good turnout.”

Autosport International is famous for the huge array of vehicles that are displayed year-upon-year and for the motorsport celebrities who attend. 2009 was no exception with stands and car displays including, F1 and Lotus. Cars featured on the stands included the latest-spec. F1 machines and Lotus’ famous Type 32B Tasman and 97T. The Lotus Type 32B is believed, by experts, to be the most original Jim Clark single-seater in existence.

The new HFRRT car, an N9 Subaru Impreza (Japanese import) Sti, was on show at the HFRRT and Turbo Dynamics stand. On display at the Prodrive stand were Aston Martin Vantages GT2 and GT4, and the Prodrive Impreza N2009. Turbo Dynamics sponsored, Santa Pod Raceway were also present at the event with a stand featuring modified cars and of course, a couple of girlies!

This year, the Autosport Show featured a special display celebrating the motorsport career of ex-Formula One driver, David Coulthard. Coulthard himself was present at the show for autograph signings and a live interview on the Autosport stage. Other celebrities at the event included: ex-Formula One driver Allan McNish, touring car aces Andy Priaulx and Jason Plato, and karting legend Emanuele Pirro. The next generation of motorsport heroes were present as well, with 1st lady Chris Birbeck Junior Rallycross winner, Kelly Bird at a stand, signing autographs for her male fans.

BRC competitor, Kate Heath attended the show with her partner and Navigator, Paul Heath. During the show, the duo announced that Paul Heath would be Navigator for HFRRT in the Central Southern Car Clubs Championship this year.

On top of all the exhibition stands and celebrities in attendance, the Autosport Show once again boasted a Live Action Arena; one of the show’s most popular parts. The fast-paced action held in the arena this year involved a variety of vehicles, ranging from stock cars to historical vehicles, to drag machines, which were sped around the circuit and used to perform stunts in front of thousands of spectators.

The next event that will see a Turbo Dynamics presence this year is Rallye Sunseeker, which takes place on 27-28 February. For more information, visit turbodynamics.co.uk
