Redrow announces scrum-ptious new show home The rugby captain who inspired the design of Redrow’s latest stylish show home has been taking time out from training to sample what the property has to offer.

The award-winning housebuilder has teamed sporty style with a touch of ‘wag’ elegance at its Cwm Calon development, in Ystrad Mynach, near Caerphilly, by decorating and furnishing the brand new show home to suit the lifestyle of Penallta captain Matt Tucker.

Matt’s teammates, also known as ‘The Pitmen’ after the men who originally formed the club who all worked at Penallta Colliery, were also delighted to take a tour of the new five-bedroom Webburn Home. Redrow recently donated £4,000 to help develop the club and buy new first team kit, which the players showed off at the recent show home launch.

The house builder’s chosen interior design company, Connections in Design, interviewed the rugby player to find out his tastes and hobbies so they could create an interior that would be perfectly suited to his lifestyle in the new five-bedroom Webburn show home.

Matt loved the showhome: “It was designed to suit the modern professional rugby player, it’s a lovely house and I was very impressed with what Redrow produced.”

Chic black and orange accessories were chosen to bring vibrancy to the stylish cream kitchen, and luxurious cushions and ornate black light fixtures added a touch of elegance to the neutral yet contemporary living area. The sumptuous theme was carried into the bedroom, where natural colours were brought to life with flashes of gold and dark accent colours.

Matt chose straight-light modern furniture to complement the high-specification fixtures and fittings from Redrow’s ‘Indulge’ range and one of the bedrooms was even converted into a high-tech gym area to keep Matt match fit.

Debby Pavitt, sales manager for Redrow Homes (South Wales), said: “The designers have come up with a stylish and contemporary scheme to suit Matt’s sporty lifestyle but the show home is really there to show potential buyers that, whatever their taste, a brand new property is a blank canvass that can be transformed into a dream home.

“We were delighted Matt and his teammates could be here for the opening. It’s terrific to be linked with Penallta RFC. Our Cwm Calon development is built near the old Colliery site, which is an important part of this area’s heritage, so we thought what better gesture than to sponsor the team set up by the men who worked there.

“Cwm Calon is a superb development for families and great for the area as a whole. It’s a lovely place to live and it’s got great transport and rail links.”

Set in the village of Ystrad Mynach, Cwm Calon has stunning views of the surrounding countryside and its affordability makes it a great choice for people looking for a beautiful and easy to manage new property.

The immediate amenities of Ystrad Mynach and the town of Caerphilly are close by, while for commuters Cardiff is just a 14 mile journey south by car or 20 minutes by train from the nearby railway station.

One and two-bedroom apartments are available from just £99,950, three-bedroom houses from £179,995, four-bedroom from £194,995 and five-bedroom homes from £319,995.

The new show home adds to others already open at Cwm Calon and can be viewed daily from 10am to 5.30pm. For more information log on to Redrow.co.uk.
