First Ivecos for Sims Worldwide Logistics

Supplied by local Iveco distributor CD Bramall, the order comprises one Stralis Active Space 4x2 tractor unit (AS440S54T/P) and one Stralis Active Space 6x2 tractor unit (AS440S48TX/P), together with a Daily 35S12 panel van.
Finished in the company’s dark blue livery, the vehicles join a 14-strong fleet and will be used for groupage operations across the UK and Europe. The Daily will be focused on local and national / international express collections and deliveries, whilst the Stralis 4x2 trunks back and forth between Switzerland and the Stralis 6x2 operates at 44 tonnes across the UK.
"We had our eye on the Stralis for a while and CD Bramall was very generous with its demonstrator," explains Ken Daniels-Sims, Managing Director of Sims Worldwide Logistics. "For five weeks we really put the Stralis to the test and the result was an order for our first two Iveco tractor units."
The two Stralis’ are expected to cover up to 160,000 km a year and will operate with Euroliner curtainside trailers.
Both Stralis tractor units are powered by Iveco’s proven Cursor 13 engine, with the AS440S54T/P capable of producing up to 540 hp between 1,615 and 1,900 rev/min and a peak torque of 2,350 Nm between 1,000 and 1,615 rev/min. The AS440S48TX/P offers up to 480 hp at 1,900 rev/min and a peak torque of 2,200 Nm between 1,000 and 1,530 rev/min.
The engines are driven through Iveco’s EuroTronic transmission, which offers either fully, or semi-automated shifts. It also eliminates the need for a clutch pedal, helping to optimise gear shifts also making the Stralis extremely driver-friendly.
