Companies save money with Carillion’s carbon calculator

3rd February 2009 Print
Carillion Fleet Management has developed an easy-to-use online carbon calculator that can help companies cut their fleet costs and reduce CO2 emissions.

The tool, which is available on Carillion’s website, simply asks users to input a few details about their annual mileage, vehicle mix and the type of fuel used and uses the data to help fleet operators start the process of working out the environmental impact of that company’s fleet.

Carillion Fleet Management can then use this information to suggest changes that will save the company money and cut their carbon emissions.

David Stanley, Head of Business Development, said: “In the current economic climate, it has become increasingly important to recognise areas of a business where cost savings can be made.

”With our carbon calculator, we can show companies how existing fleet policies may be losing money unnecessarily and advise them on ways to make better use of their assets.”

Using the tool, companies can quickly evaluate their current car and van carbon footprint. The resulting information can then be used to set targets for reducing emissions across the fleet, redevelop vehicle lists to include more fuel efficient cars, and cut costs.

Carillion Fleet Management has come a long way over the last few years in helping its parent company Carillion plc to reduce the carbon footprint of the Group fleet. It is now looking to share this knowledge with like-minded, environmentally conscious fleet operators.

Carillion Fleet Management can also help companies to revise their van fleet policies – recommending smaller vehicles where appropriate that will cut fuel costs and emissions while still remaining fit for purpose. It will also match up their HGV needs with the most appropriate vehicle for the job.

“As an independent solutions provider, we’re not tied to any vehicle manufacturer or financial institution. This means we can always source the right vehicle at the best price – from low CO2 cars and trucks to electric vehicles,” added David.
