Mister Wales - Leigh Brookman A trainee site manager from Cardiff will swap his hard hat and work boots for a tuxedo as he leaves his Pontprennau building site to represent Wales in Mister World this week.

Twenty-three year old Leigh Brookman who works for George Wimpey, will travel along with around 100 other contestants worldwide, to the exotic island of Sanya, China, on Friday. There they will compete over a three-week period for the title Mister World.

The initiative is run by the same organisers of the Miss World competition and will see the men take part in a series of challenges including deep sea diving with the Chinese Army and a tug-o-war with an elephant.

For Leigh it promises to be an adventure of a lifetime. He said: “This is a fabulous opportunity and I’m really excited. Quite what the next few weeks holds for me, I don’t really know. All I can say, is that I’m sure it will be an experience that money just can’t buy.”

Winchester Gardens, where Leigh works, is already proving popular with young couples but the sales executives in the showhome are hoping for a surge of interest due to Leigh’s new found fame.

George Wimpey sales executive, Lisa Randell who works at Winchester Gardens said: “We think that we may have a few more female visitors to the site now. We know that more and more young women look for new homes on their own because they are easy to buy and easy to look after. No doubt Leigh will help us become the development of choice from now on.”
